Srinagar, Apr 25 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Gopal Sharma has urged the police personnel to respect human rights while conducting counter-insurgency operations in the state.

Talking to police personnel at the District Police Lines in Pulwama, he asked them to put up a people-friendly face.

The DGP also visited police camps at Naina Batpora, the security site of Ircon, and Litter.

He briefed the police personnel about various welfare measures being taken by the department for their betterment.

Mr Sharma also exhorted all the policemen to observe the basic tenets of human rights while conducting anti-militant operations.

He also urged them to work with missionary zeal and to continue with their tirade against timber smugglers, narcotic traders and burglars.
