Haryana Local Area Development Board constituted

Chandigarh, Apr 25 (UNI) The Haryana government has constituted the Haryana Local Area Development Board under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda as per the Haryana Local Area Development Tax Act 2000.

The functions and objectives of the Board would be to ensure balanced development of the local areas falling within the domain of the urban as well as the rural local bodies. It would also identify the areas which required immediate development or maintenance of infrastructure facilities out of proceeds of tax.

The Board would also recommend allotment of proceeds of tax for developing and maintaining infrastructure facilities like roads, bridges, culverts, sewerage, drainage, sanitation, waste management, electricity, drinking water and other infrastructure facilities.

Besides, it would also ensure that the proceeds of tax collected under this Act would be spent judiciously for the development of the local areas.

Haryana Chief Secretary, Finance Secretary, Financial Commissioner Excise and Taxation, Financial Commissioner Development and Panchayat and Financial Commissioner Urban Development are its ex-officio members while Excise and Taxation Commissioner is the Member Secretary of the Board.

Mr K S Malik, Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner has been appointed as ex-officio Chief Executive Officer.
