Haryana disburses Rs 1,789 cr against wheat purchase
Chandigarh, Apr 25 (UNI) The Haryana government has disbursed the payment of Rs 1,789 crore to the farmers of the state for the purchase of their 21.04 lakh MTs of wheat so far during the current rabi season.
Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that HAFED had purchased 7.93 lakh MTs of wheat and disbursed a sum of Rs 674.37 crore, Food and Supplies Department had procured 5.11 lakh MTs of wheat and payment of Rs 434.52 crore had been made.
Similarly, Food Corporation of India had procured 2.43 lakh MTs of wheat on payment of Rs 206.84 crore.
Agro Industries Corporation had purchased 2.06 lakh MTs and paid a sum of Rs 175.38 crore. Haryana Warehousing Corporation had procured 1.89 lakh MTs of wheat and disbursed a sum of Rs 161.25 crore.
He added that Confed had purchased 1.60 lakh MTs and the payment of Rs 136.38 crore was made to the farmers.
He said as much as 23.31 lakh MTs of wheat has arrived in the 360 mandis of the state so far and out of this 21.04 lakh MTs had been purchased by the six government procuring agencies so far.
He claimed traders had purchased 1.56 lakh MTs of wheat. A sum of Rs 2,195 crore had been sanctioned for the payment of wheat so that it could be made between 48 to 72 hours to the farmers for their produce.
