Govt to sanction Rs 55 crore for Palar dam: CM

Chittoor, Apr 25 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajashekara Reddy today said the government had sanctioned Rs 55 crore for the construction of a dam across Palar river at Kuppam in Chittoor district.

Addressing a public meeting here, Dr Reddy said the government was committed to taking up irrigation projects in the state and it would invite tender for the construction of Palar dam soon.

To deal with the power crisis in the state, the government would purchase power at the cost of Rs 1240 crore.

Alleging that previous TDP government had completely neglected the farm sectors and failed to halt the Babli Project, he said the government had taken all necessary steps to prevent the construction of Babli Project.

Agricultural Minister Raguveera Reddy, Speaker Suresh Reddy and Government Chief Whip N Kirankumar Reddy also attended the meeting.
