Food poisoning leaves 56 ill in HP
Dharamshala, Apr 25 (UNI) At least 56 people, including women and children, fell ill in two separate cases of food poisoning in Kangra and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh last night, police and health sources today said.
In the first case of food poisoning, 36 people, including women and children, fell ill after having a ''langar'' in Dehrian village of Kangra district.
The sources said people started vomitting followed by loose motions and complained of severe abdominal pain soon after eating the food and were taken to a nearby primary health centre (PHC).
Five seriously ill were referred to Kangra Hospital where the doctors described them out of danger, the sources said.
In another case of food poisoning, 20 girls, ill in Chilli village of Chamba district after eating their hostel food.
The girl students were taken to a nearby government hospital and were reported to be out of danger.
Kangra Chief Medical Officer Jaswant Singh Chandel, confirming the case of food poison in the district, said a detailed report was being prepared after collecting samples of food served in the langer in the district.
