The survey named ''Total Transport System Study'' would help in analyzing inter-model transport resource costs and traffic inflows, besides determining the optimal inter model mix and allocation of transport investment, he said here.

Mr Rajan said under the study, first round of survey would be undertaken in the state from April 26 to 28, and would be conducted in 15 identified centres for continuous 48 hrs.

He said while the Economics and Statistics Department would provide manpower and technical support to conduct the survey, the Excise and Taxation Department would provide check post facilitation and logistics.

Traffic management would be done by the Police Department and Home Guards at the check posts, he said.

He said the Transport Department has also issued instructions for providing information of the vehicles.

During the survey the total number of vehicles crossing a particular check post would be counted, besides information of vehicles carrying goods with origin and destination and vehicle operating cost and performance behaviour, he said.
