EC register FIR against surrogate ads against Mayawati
Lucknow, Apr 25 (UNI) After lodging cases against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh and party leader Lalji Tandon, the Election Commission today filed an FIR on surrogate advertisements against Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati.
The case under section 171 of the IPC and other relevent sections of the RP Act have been registered against New Delhi-based Crayons Advertisement Agency and Bal Shiksha aur Sarvangin Vikas Sansthan for publishing the surrogate ads in the local print media.
Additional CEO Devesh Chaturvedi here today said the Lucknow district returning officer had been asked to file the FIR.
Subsequently, the case has been filed at the Kaiserbagh police station by the district authorities.
Mr Chaturvedi said a report of the FIR has been sent to the EC to take further action against the erring ad agencies.
The action followed several complaints filed by the BSP with EC over the surrogate ads hitting the personal image of Mayawati.
Earlier the EC had lodged cases against Mr Singh and Mr Tandon for releasing a controversial CD.
