Jaunpur, Apr 25: Samajwadi Party (SP) general secretary and UP PWD Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav today criticised the Election Commission and said it was not working properly.

''There are several irrgularities in Election Photo Identity Cards (EPIC's) issuance and also the names of many people are missing from the voter list,''he told reporters, while asserting these were the indicators how the EC's performance had been below expectations.

Mr Yadav alleged that the electorate were also threatened not to cast their votes. Moreover, he pointed out that the conduct of UP polls in the month of scorching heat rather than in February and March, had also affected the voting per cent.

Claiming that the party would win the ongoing UP assembly poll, Mr Yadav said that his party would at least get 250 seats.

Blaming the Central government for giving step motherly treatment to UP, Mr Yadav said it had been an hinderance to the development in the state.

The state had witnessed the development during the last three years which was missing since independence, he claimed.
