Digital Prototyping to redefine Product Development Process
Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) Autodesk, design software and solutions company today shared its vision to help redefine the Product Development Process in the Indian manufacturing sector.
Andrew Anagnost, VP, Autodesk Inc, said ''Digital Prototyping redefines Product Development Process and reduces time-to-market period. A move to digital prototyping will help manufacturers by answering questions on products before start building them.'' A recent research by the Aberdeen Group, a US based industry research firm, found that best-in-class manufacturers, who used digital prototyping built half the number of physical prototypes than the average manufacturer. They got products to market 58 days faster with nearly 50 percent lower prototyping costs.
Using digital prototyping, manufacturers can now bring new products to market faster without the expense and waste of multiple physical prototyping.
In the same manner, Autodesk aims to assist Indian manufacturers enhance productivity and reduce cost of manufacturing by introducing the concept of 'Digital Prototyping'.
The company has updated product portfolio to help manufacturers leverage the power of functional design and thereby adopt digital prototyping, Mr Anagnost said.
Digital Prototyping is an approach that uses 3D modeling and engineering data to visualize and analyze designs without making physical prototypes.
