Customs official convicted in illegal gratification case

Chennai, Apr 25 (UNI) The Principal Special Judge for CBI Cases Madurai has awarded two years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 to a customs official for accepting an illegal gratification of Rs 10,000.

A PIB release here tonight said the official S P Mayandi, Assistant Commissioner of Customs Preventive Division Tuticorin had accepted the illegal gratification from the complainant K L A Murugappan for helping him in a case on January 10, 2004.
