Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) A local court today remanded two builders in police custody till May 3, for their alleged involvement in Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) disputed scheme and having nexus with Hasina Parkar, sister of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar.
The accused-Sandeep Shukla and Krishnamilan Shukla were arrested yesterday immediately after a Sessions court rejected their anticipatory bail application by the Anti Extortion Cell of Mumbai Police.
The duo were produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S Y Shisode this afternoon, who remanded them in police custody till May 3.
Hasina Parkar and five others were shown'' wanted accused'' in the case.
Police has stated in the remand application that they wanted custodial interrogation of the accused to trace the truth and solve the case.
The AEC sleuth had registered case of cheating and extortion against Hasina Parkar and seven others in the disputed SRA case.
A developer Vinod Avlani lodged a complaint in August last year against builder Baba Shukla, Chandresh Shah, Parkar and five others, who allegedly joined hands to develop a slum cluster in Wadala under the SRA Scheme. They allegedly took the proposal to Avlani, who introduced them to developer Jayesh Shah and he paid Rs one crore to them. When the project failed, Mr Shah asked Avlani to return his money.
Mr Avlani managed to get back Rs 70 lakh from some of the people.
Shukla, however, refused to pay the amount and threatened by saying he had nexus with D-gang.
