Court release builder on bail
Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) A local court today granted bail of Rs 50,000 to builder R Chaturvedi, who was arrested for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to eliminate rival builder Rashmikant Shah.
Granting bail, the Additional Session Court Judge P D Vishwasrao directed the accused to attend the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) office at Bandra every Monday for next three months, not to visit Abhyudaya Nagar colony, submit the passport to investigating agency and not to leave the country without prior permission of the court.
Chaturvedi was arrested last month on charges of conspiracy (120b) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for his alleged involvement in conspiring to kill Mr Shah, so that he would be able to take contract of the Redevelopment of Abhyudaya Nagar Colony in southcentral Mumbai. The Redevelopment project is worth more than Rs 500 crore.
Prosecution case is that Chaturvedi had hired some contract killers through one Baba to eliminate Mr Shah. While the killers were on their way to commit an offence they were intercepted by Juhu police and were arrested alongwith sharp weapons. They were identified as -Mohammed Jaffer Sheikh, Aslam Khan, Salim Qureshi and Vijay Vadkar.
During interrogation, they had confessed that they were hired by Baba to kill Rashimkant Shah of Vijay Developers.
