Centre to extend incentive bonus period per quintal

Machilipatnam, April 25 (UNI) The Central Government would extend the applicability of the period of incentive bonus Rs 40 per quintal, being given for procurement of paddy during the Kariff Marketing Season 2006-07, according to Suresh Kumar Surendran Nayar, District Additional Magistrate and Joint Collector, Krishna District.

Addressing a meeting here today Mr Nayar asked the farmers to utilise the oppurtunity to the maximum extent possible.

Meanwhile, S Jadeeswara Reddy, Agriculture Joint Director, told UNI that during the Rabi season about 7.7 mt of paddy yielding was expected from 1.04 lakh hectares in Krishna district.

Mr Reddy said there was no damages to the rabi crop from the recent unusual rain.
