Call money opens low at 7.25-7.50 pc
Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) The call money rate today opened lower at 7.25-7.50 per cent, compared with yesterday's close of 8.00-8.25 per cent.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) kept its key lending rate steady at 7.75 per cent, after having raised it five times in the last fiscal year to cool price pressures, the dealers said.
It also left the cash reserve ratio--the percentage of deposits banks need to keep with the central bank--steady after having increased it three times since early December.
With the uncertainty gone, there's a big relief. The rally may sustain for the next couple of sessions. The total traded volume on the central bank's electronic platform was heavy at Rs 890 crore, the dealers added.
