BSP demands CBI probe into Palamu bypoll result
Daltonganj, Apr 25 (UNI) The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today demanded a CBI inquiry into the Palamu bypoll result, alleging that discrepancies were observed during the counting.
The by-election, held on March 29, was necessitated after Mr Manoj Bhuiyan (RJD) lost his Lok Sabha seat following the cash-for-query scam.
Talking to reporters here today, state BSP president Shtrudhan Kumar said party candidate Kameshwar Baitha had asked for information regarding polling and counting under the Right to Information Act, but had not received yet.
Mr Kumar said the CBI inquiry should be done keeping in view the ''lackadasical'' attitude of the authorities in providing those details.
RJD's Ghuran Ram won the seat by defating his nearest rival, Mr Baitha, who fought the by-elections from jail.
