Applicable solatium to fire mishap victims for damages: CM

Puducherry, Apr 25 (UNI) The administration would provide applicable solatium to those whose houses were partially damaged in a recent fire mishap, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told the Assembly today.

Around 377 houses were gutted and 97 partially damaged in the mishap.

Replying to a special mention from Mr A Anbazhagan (AIADMK) during the Zero Hour today, the Chief Minister said the administration had arranged solatium of Rs 10,000 each to the families whose houses were destroyed in the fire and whatever applicable would be provided to those whose houses suffered partial damage.

The administration could not provide any assistance to those from whose houses utensils were removed before they were damaged.

Moving the special mention, Mr Anbazhagan demanded a compensation of at least Rs 5,000 for partially damaged houses.

He demanded stringent action against the anti-social elements who were responsible for setting fire to three houses in as many places in his constituency.
