Addl prosecutor general remanded in custody for bribery charges

Guwahati, Apr 25 (UNI) Kamrup district Additional Prosecutor General Tankeswar Deka, held for allegedly accepting bribe, was remanded in 14 days of general judicial custody today.

Mr Deka was arrested by the CID yesterday on charges of accepting bribes and other incentives.

Booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Section 7, he was produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistarte Mallika Dutta.

The Magistrate, while ordering his remand, also instructed that Mr Deka be produced in the court of the special judge appointed for prosecuting under the Anti-Corruption act.

Judges, appointed especially for the purpose, prosecute people, held under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
