Actor-MP Govinda goes back to dancing

Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) Critics of actor-MP Govinda may be vocal that the 'Hero No 1' is a non-starter in politics, but he is very serious about his comeback in movies.

He has gone back to basics and practising his dancing ways like earlier days. His old buddies, Chow&Mow of the Modern Dance Academy, are teaching him to Salsa and Jive.

This fresh dance form will enrich his fitness and bring him back to his image of a dancing star.

''We haven't seen anybody who has been good enough to claim this position after Govinda,'' says Chow&Mow (Narendra&Kaushik, respectively).

The All India dancing champions are praising Govinda for the way he is burning calories on the dance floor. Govinda has signed them for his future projects.

Chow&Mow have also trained Salman Khan, Amrita Rao, Meenakshi Sheshadri and Bhagyashri.

Govinda is a Congress Member of Parliament from Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency, the third largest in the country after outer Delhi and Thane.

He shot into political limelight after trouncing BJP heavyweight and the invincible Ram Naik from this constituency.

But, the actor could not do to the Congress what Sunil Dutt did to the party from the neighbouring Mumbai North West parliamentary constituency since joining politics in 1984. He could not capitalise on his gains in the 2004 parliamentary election in the subsequent Assembly polls and the recent Mumbai Civic polls. Congress remains a virtual defunct unit in North Mumbai parliamentary constituency unlike the Mumbai North West, where all six Assembly segments are represented by Congress.

Govinda returned to celluloid screen this year with Bhagambhag and later, Salaam-e-ishq. But he was seen playing second fiddle to other stars in both films.
