39 Indians deported for travelling with fake visas
Dubai, Apr 25: Immigration authorities at Dubai International Airport on Monday detected fake visas held by the job-seeking passengers and ordered their deportation after fining the carrier, Indian, a total of Dh 18,360.
A statement issued here said shaken by the shocking discovery that 39 passengers on board the Indian air carrier were holding fake visas, authorities have decided to scrutinise travel papers more thoroughly before issuing boarding passes.
The offenders travelled to Dubai along with five others holding valid visas and with a one-way ticket.
The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) was reported to have ordered an investigation to find out how these passengers passed through immigration check at Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi.
Dubai immigration officials said they slapped Dh510 per passenger found travelling on false travel documents.
The airline official said it has now made it mandatory for all the companies to submit the original visa for approval, before issuing tickets to travellers.
