3 girls meet watery grave

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Apr 25 (UNI) Three Dalit girls belonging to Appapuram Village of the district met with a watery grave while washing clothes at a canal even as another was rescued by an elderly person.

Police said the mishap occurred when one of the girls slipped and fell into the canal. Immediately, three of her friends jumped into the water to rescue her. But two of them died while the third one was rescued.

The four girls aged about 11 years were studying in standard six in a school in the Dalit colony. Their parents were farm labourers.
