K'taka: 100 cheque leaves missing from BGML office

Kolar Gold Fields, Apr 25: One hundred cheque leaves of Corporation Bank, Robertsonpet Branch, here, were found missing from the office of the since closed Bharat Gold Mines Limited (BGML) here.

According to a complaint lodged with the Police, the cheques, meant for disbursement of final settlement of BGML ex-employees today, were being sorted out and signed in the Finance Department yesterday. Meanwhile, a group of ex-employees Mr N Subramani, Mr T S Purushothaman, Mr J Louis and Mr T Srinivasan came inside the room and held discussion with Mr Rockstney, Incharge for Special Terminal Benefit Package. They had heated arguments on the issue of BGML Bulletins etc.

After about 10 minutes they left. While sorting the cheque books (19 Nos of 100 each) one cheque book of 100 leaves bearing Nos 414101 to 414200 of Corporation Bank, Robertsonpet, KGF Account No C/A 526, all duly signed were missing.

A copy of the complaint has been sent to the Bank with a request not to honour the cheques missing. Police are investigating.
