10 people sentenced to life imprisonment on murder charge

Davanagere, Apr 25(UNI) Davanagere District and Sessions Judge today convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment 10 people arrested on the charges of murder of a Gram Panchayat President over a political rivalry.

Judge S Siddalingesh also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 each of the convicted.

According to public prosecutor H G Banakar the accused murdered Ajjappa Reddy President of Nandigavi Grama Panchayat in Harihara Taluk on September 13-2005.

However, two others were acquitted for lack of evidence.

The convicted were Manjunatha Reddy, Haleshappa, Raju, Venkatesh Reddy, Ramappa, Narendra, Ajappa, Thippanna, Narayana Reddy, Thipperudra Reddy.

Harihara police had registered the case and filed the charge sheet before the court.
