EC orders repolling in 3 polling booths on Apr 25

Lucknow, Apr 24: The Election Commission has ordered repolling inthree booths, one each in three constituencies tomorrow, where pollingwas held in the fourth phase yesterday.

State chief electoral officer (CEO) Anuj Kumar Bishnoi said herethat repolling has been ordered at booth no-30 of Nagarpurab seat inBasti district, booth no-198 of Domariaganj seat in Sidharthnagardistrict and booth no-92 of Fakarpur constituency in Bahriach district.

He said repolling was ordered following malfunctioning of the Electronic Voting Machines(EVMs).

Repolling will be held tomorrow from 0700 hrs to 1700 hrs.

After completion of four phases of elections, the EC till date had ordered repolling in six booths.

Meanwhile, the EC has ordered strict checking of fake ration cardsbeing used as an alternative photo identity for the voters during thepolling.'' Criminal cases should be lodged against anyone possessingsuch fake cards'', EC said.

In another directive, the commission has allowed repair andemergency development works in the districts where polling has beencompleted in the last four phases.
