Chennai, Apr 24: Chairman of the Oversight Committee looking into reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in higher education Veerappa Moily today said the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre was 'very firm' on implementing 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in institutions of higher learning.

Talking to newspersons at the airport here, Mr Moily, also chairman of the Administrative Reforms Committee, said the Union Government was holding hectic discussions with the authorities concerned on the Supreme Court's refusal to vacate the interim stay on 27 per cent reservation and what steps to be taken further in this regard.

The Union Government would leave no stone unturned to ensure the implementation of 27 per cent reservation at any cost, the senior Congress leader said.

Relying to a question, Mr Moily opined that 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in education and employment was intended for bringing social changes in society.
