TPCC demands apology from Brinda Karat
Agartala, Apr 23: Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has demanded an apology from CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat for her comments against the father of the Nation.
The TPCC condemned the comments of the Rajya Sabha member during her address at a function on Saturday organised by the department of SC, OBC and Minorities Welfare here.
TPCC spokesman and Former Minister Ratan Chakraborty said the CPI(M) leader alleged that Mahatma Gandhi was responsible for classification of society and was against Dalits.
The TPCC leader said Mahatma Gandhi dedicated his whole life for the betterment of Dalits and the downtrodden, including untouchables, and the comments of Ms Karat were 'fabricated'.
Ms Karat should also beg forgiveness before the Supreme Court for her criticism on its judgement on reservation for the OBC in educational instututions, the TPCC leader said.
