SC, Govt not to be faulted on OBC quota: Cong
New Delhi, Apr 23: The Congress today sought to play safe on the OBC quota issue, refusing to find fault with either the Supreme Court or the government.
''We want to study the contents of the (Supreme Court) order'' before coming out with a view on the verdict rejecting the government's appeal on the OBC reservation issue, party spokesman Satyavrat Chaturvedi told reporters.
He made the statement after being asked about the party's reaction to the apex court order earlier in the day. The government had sought vacation of the stay on the implementation of the 27 per cent reservation for OBC students.
Mr Chaturvedi said the party was, however, not ready to buy the observations that the Supreme Court was biased in favour of the upper caste and the government did not argue the case well.
''I would suggest not to make such insinuations against the court,'' he said and at the same time defended the government as well, stating that it had put up its viewpoints effectively before the division bench.
