MRPL buys Nigerian Antan in tender
Singapore, Apr 23: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL) has bought 600,000 barrels of Nigerian Antan crude in its second monthly tender so far this year, a trader said on Monday.
A Japanese trader sold the 600,000-barrel cargo in the tender that closed last week, the trader added.
Price details have yet to emerge and the deal has yet to be confirmed.
MRPL had sought between 450,000 and 650,000 barrels to be loaded in June 10-20.
MRPL rarely buys crude oil on the open spot market. This was the second monthly tender in a row that MRPL issued after issuing a first tender last month for May barrels.
MRPL did not make any award in the first tender.
MRPL runs a 194,000 barrels per day (bpd) refinery. It is owned by India's top oil producer Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. (ONGC), which normally provides the plant with crude from its domestic and overseas oil fields, including in Sudan.
