Kannan Devan black tea get BIS certification

Kochi, Apr 23: The Kannan Devan black tea produced by Kannan Devan Hills Plantation, Munnar, in Kerala, has received BIS Certification Licence, the first time that this certification has been granted for black tea.

The company can now use the standard ISI mark on black tea produced at its Munnar factory.

This is the first time that BIS has granted certification licence for black tea, an official release said here today.

The license has been granted in accordance with Indian Standard IS 3633:2003. This specifies the quality requirements of black tea including tea tasting, chemical requirements, limits on pesticide residues and heavy metals.
