UP poll neither final nor semi final: Priyanka
Amethi, Apr 22 (UNI) Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's daughter and party 'star campaigner' Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today said the ongoing Uttar Pradesh assembly poll was neither final nor semi-final for the party.
''I am not taking the state election as final or semi-final.
Ultimately, Congress and my brother Rahul Gandhi will emerge victorious,'' Ms Vadra said while addressing election meetings in Gauriganj and Jagdishpur assembly seats.
''The UP poll will spring new surprises as my brother Rahul is striving hard to revive Congress' lost glory in UP in the form of his roadshows,'' Ms Vadra observed.
Seeking support for Congress, Ms Vadra appealed the electorate to bring about a change in their mindset. ''The rule of Congress is imperative to usher in development in UP.'' She underlined that the people need to adopt a cautious approach towards communal forces who are trying to divide the society in the name of religion and caste.
Upbraiding the Mulayam Singh Yadav regime, she appealed the electorate to uproot the government which is a constant hurdle to development. ''UP can revive its golden era only under Congress regime,'' she underlined.
Terming BJP as ''communal,'' the Congress star campaigner observed it is only because of the wrongdoings of such political parties UP has been pushed three ages back.
Earliar in the day, Ms Vadra visited Rajapur Ubhra, Dullapur Kalan, Purab gaon, Shahganj, Paniar and Bahorba areas and interacted with the voters.
In her short visit, Priyanka also attended the nuptial of party worker Rudra Baksh Singh's daughter in Kasraya.
Besides, Ms Vadra also offered prayers at Nandmahar Dhan on Jamo-Bhadar highway and prayed for Congress' success in the ongoing UP poll.
Priyanka is one of the 40 star campaigners, including PM Dr Manmohan Singh, who are campaigning for Congress candidates.
