TNEDA releases booklet on global warming

Chennai, Apr 22 (UNI) As part of celebrating this year's Earth Day, Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TNEDA) today released a booklet aimed at raising more awareness among the people on global warming.

The booklet was released by state Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy at the Secretariate complex here.

Talking to the newspersons, he said ''global warming is one of the most serious challenges faced by us today.'' To protect the health and economic well being of the current and future generations, we must reduce our carbon emission using the technology and practical solutions already at our disposal'', he added.

He said ''with the view of using non-conventional energy, Tamil Nadu government has proposed to set up world-class 675-acre Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to manufacture Renewable Energy Devices in the state at a cost of Rs 5000 crore''.

''Tamil Nadu government along with the Centre and other countries is ready to face the challenges of global warming'', he added.
