Punjab Police wireless operator nabbed
Phagwara, Apr 22: The Punjab Police today took into custody a police wireless operator on charges of preparing and selling fake passports.
Phillaur DSP Harpreet Singh Benepal said that the alleged accused was a wireless operator Kuldip Chand from village Birampur who was working at the police control room in Nawanshahar.
A police party led by Phillaur SHO Sarabjit Singh Rai recovered Rs 75,000 in cash and forged stamps and several other fake documents. The accused was nabbed while striking a deal of Rs two lakh for preparing a fake passport for Nirmal singh of Kang Dharni village.
The wireless operator was later arrested under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC.
