Periyar's statue 'damaged' in TN

Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, Apr 22 (UNI) Tension prevailed in the Muthupettai in Tiruvarur District after a statue of Rationalist Leader EVR Periyar was reportedly damaged by unidentified persons last night.

Police sources said here this morning sniffer dogs were rushed to the scene and investigations underway to nab the culprits.

Additional police forces have been rushed to the area, they said.
