NBCC laments present situation in Nagaland

Kohima, Apr 22: The Peace Committee of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has regretted the "deep-rooted corruption and widespread lawlessness" prevailing in the state.

Rev Kari Longchar, Director of Peace Committee of the NBCC, in a release here today said the fallout of "corruption and lawlessness" was the destruction of Nagas by Nagas.

He said there was no distinction between those, who had gone underground, and those overground as both share the same values and interests.

The NBCC, however, said the leaders alone could not be blamed as all were responsible for the present situation in the state.

The recent killings in Mon, Zunheboto, Athibung, Kohima, Dimapur, Medziphema, Sirhima, Bade, Mokokchung and other places bore an ample testimony to the fact that sinister elements had taken the rein of the state, he opined.

With reconciliation and acceptance of one another, the search for a political settlement of the Naga issue, acceptable to all Nagas, would become productive, Rev Kari stated.
