UP: Mngt students damage BSP candidate's car

Varanasi, Apr 22: Students of the SAMS Institute of Hotel Management went on a rampage today and damaged property, including the vehicle of a BSP candidate, over the killing of their institute's managing director and delay in the post-mortem of his body.

The hotel management students, agitated over the delay in the post-mortem of SAMS MD Raj Kumar Singh, who was killed last night, blocked traffic for over two hours outside the district hospital at Kabirchaura and later jammed the road outside the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) main gate.

The delay in the body's autopsy at the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS-BHU) led students to damage public property at Lanka including the official vehicle of BSP candidate from Varanasi (Cantt) seat R K Singh.

Police reached the spot and controlled the agitated students by applying mild force.

The SAMS MD was shot dead from point-blank range by two unidentified criminals outside a marriage house in Rathyatra area where he had gone last night to attend a marriage ceremony.

Police suspect the hand of extortionists in his killing.
