Israeli missile hits car in Gaza Strip: Palestinians

Gaza, Apr 22: A missile fired from an Israeli aircraft hit a car in the northern Gaza Strip today, killing one Palestinian militant and wounding another, local residents said.

The Israeli army was checking the details of the report.

Militants said the men in the car belonged to the Islamic Jihad militant group.

The residents said the car was probably leaving an area from which rockets had earlier been fired into Israel.

The Israeli army said three rockets had been fired into Israel from the Gaza Strip and that one had landed on a house in the border town of Sderot.

An Israeli ambulance service said two people in Sderot had been taken to hospital and were being treated for light injuries. Local residents said four others, including a pregnant woman, were being treated at the scene for shock.

The militant's death in Gaza followed Israel's killing of four Palestinians in the occupied West Bank earlier today, three of them militants.

The rocket fire on Sderot came as a response to the killings, militant groups said.
