Gunbattle erupts in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 22 (UNI) A fierce gunbattle erupted in Pulwama district of south Kashmir this evening, sources said.

They said security forces, on specific information, launched a search operation at Reshipora, Zainapora in Pulwama district.

As the security forces were conducting searches, militants fired upon them with automatic weapons from a particular house. The fire was retaliated.

Security forces have cordoned off the house and were repeatedly asking the militants to surrender, the sources added.

The gunfight was on when reports last came in.
