Gorakhnath Babas not to take Palace money
Kathmandu, Apr 22 (UNI) Nepal's suspended monarchy has faced another insult from the Hindu Babas (sage), who have said they would not accept anything from the Nepal King, local media said.
''Babas of the famous Hindu shrine Gorakhnath cave in Gorkha district today announced that they would not accept any money from the royal palace, be it their salary or money for religious purposes'', the Kantipur said.
The palace was insulting both the holy temple of Gorakhnath and the babas themselves by handing such paltry sums, they decided not to accept any payments in future.
The Babas plan to collect money from the devotees for the daily pujas in the temple.
The king had been neglecting the temple, they would now turn to the devotees for help, Kantipur quoted 74-year-old Teknah Yogi of the shrine as saying.
The four priests at the temple have been receiving Rs 1600 per month as salary from the Gorkha Durbar Welfare Committee.
Gorkha is the origing of Nepal's King, who unified Nepal nearly 238 years ago.
There is a saying that the famous Gorakhanath told late King Prithvi Narayan Shaha, who unified Nepal that the rule of his clan would rule the country only until the 12th generation.
Gyanendra is the 12th King of Shah dynasty.
