Former Air Vice Marshal Krishnaswamy dead
Chennai, Apr 22 (UNI) Former Air Vice Marshal V Krishnaswamy, who was also the founder of Madhuram Narayanan Centre for exceptional children, died here yesterday.
He was 81. He is survived by his wife and three sons.
Mr Krishnaswamy had suffered a stroke while having lunch.
He collapsed immediately, family sources told UNI today.
The funeral was held today.
He had served as the President of Air Force Association, Tamil Nadu and the Veteran Service Officers' Association.
Before his retirement from Air Force, he was the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Systems) at Air headquarters, New Delhi.
He also served as a Director (Officer on Spl duty) with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for about five years.
After coming to Chennai in 1989, Mr Krishnaswamy pioneered the research programme of the Indchem Research and Development Laboratory, promoted by the Sanmar Group, an offshoot of which was the Madhuram Narayanan Centre for exceptional children.
He was the spirit behind the activities of the Centre.
Madhuram Narayan Centre was honoured by the President of India in 2004 as the best institution serving the mentally challenged children, family sources added.
