CM announces separate welfare boards for priests, disabled
Chennai, Apr 22 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced constitution of separate welfare boards for village temple priests and disabled people.
This followed announcements made to this effect in the Governor's Address and in the 2007-08 Budget presented by Finance Minister K Anbazhagan.
Consequent to the announcement, Mr Karunanidhi constituted the welfare board for village temple priests headed by the Hindu Religious Charitable and Endowments Minister, with Secretaries of HR and CE department, finance, Revenue, Social Welfare and Commissioners of HR and CE, Labour and Land Administration department and Additional Commissioner of HR and CE department as its members.
Village Temple Priests Forum Administrative Trustee S Vedantham and eight others are the ex-officio members of the board, an official release said.
The welfare board for disabled would be headed by Social Welfare Minister, with Secretaries of Social Welfare and Finance Department and State Commissioner for Disabled as its members.
There would be 15 ex-officio members in the board, the release added.
