Asomese freedom fighter passes away
Jorhat, Apr 22 (UNI) Freedom fighter Mukti Nath Sharma passed away at his Jorhat residence in Upper Asom today.
He was 104 and is survived by five sons and a daughter.
Sharma was a renowned freedom fighter who participated in Satyagraha and Quit India movements.
He also served a two-and-half year jail term for taking part in the Quit India movement.
Sharma had come in contact with Mahatma Gandhi in 1934. As the news of the noted freedom fighter's death spread, people of the town visited his house, where his mortal remains were kept for paying last respects.
Political leaders and members of the district administration also paid their respects to Sharma.
