20 Tibetans held
Udhagamandalam, Tamil Nadu, Apr 22 (UNI) As many as 20 Tibetans, a majority of them middle-aged women, were arrested when they tried to organise a protest denouncing China before the Botanical Gardens where the Chinese delegates were visiting here today.
Police said the Tibetans wearing T-shirts with slogans against China tried to hold a demonstration while the Chinese delegates were inside the Gardens.
One of the protestors, Ms Angdu (70), fainted in the police van and was taken to the Government Hospital here.
Meanwhile, the Chinese cancelled dropped plans to visit the Toda hamlet near here to witness cultural events. No reason was given.
