Violence follows damage to Ambedkar statue

Bhopal, Apr 21 (UNI) Members of some political parties and followers of ''Father of the Indian Constitution'' Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar pelted stones on shops and ransakced a few vehicles in the wake of damaging of an Ambedkar statue by unidentified persons at a park in Tulsi Nagar area here.

Hurt due to the damage caused to Babasaheb's statue, some people pelted stones on a school and a nearby shops besides ransacking a few vehicles.

Inspector General of Police (Bhopal range) Sanjeev Kumar Singh told UNI that the statue had not been desecrated and had only suffered partial damages.

He said the situation was under control now. The road blockade had been removed. A case had been registered against people responsible for stone pelting and ransacking.
