Unseasonal rains damage mango crop in Saurashtra

Rajkot, Gujarat, Apr 21 (UNI) Unseasonal rains, accompanied by high velocity winds, lashed many parts of the Saurashtra region last evening, causing power disruption and damage to mango crop, reports said today.

Vishavadar taluka in Junagadh district and its surrounding areas experienced rains with cyclonic winds, causing damage to mango crops.

Rajkot city also experienced light showers last evening and power supply was disrupted in most parts of the city. Overhead wires were ripped at several places because of the high-velocity winds, and asbestos roofings too were blown off in Thangadh of Surendrangar district. However, no causalties were reported.

Reports of rains were also received from Jasdan and Gondal talukas of the district, and Chittal, Lathi and Dhari talukas of Amreli district.
