Two wildlife smugglers nabbed

Hardwar, Apr 21 (UNI) Two poachers were nabbed by the forest personnel in the Rajaji National Park last evening, official said today.

On a tip off, a team of forest personnel, lead by the Conservator of Forests, Paramjeet Singh and the deputy director of the Rajaji National Park Bharat Singh nabbed two wildlife smugglers.

The deputy director of the Rajaji Park said after the information, the range officer of Motichoor, S C Upadhayay was sent as a decoy to purchase a leopard skin from the two suspects. As they showed the skin to him, the forest team arrested them.

A leopard skin, four live pythons, one cobra and some weapons used in hunting were recovered from them.

The forest sources said the leopard skin was fresh and the smugglers had confessed to the hunting, though they had not yet revealed the exact spot where they targeted the animal.

The two have been identified as Bagula Nath and Sultan Nath, residents of Kali ki Dhal, a colony of a nomadic tribe, near Veerbhadra.
