Two people killed in an accident in HP

Nahan, Apr 21 (UNI) Two people killed and 46 injured, 22 of them seriously, after a private bus rolled down into a gorge in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh today, police said.

The accident occurred near Puruwala Bridge as the drives lost control over the vehicle, about 55 km from here, at 0800 hrs, while the bus was on its way to Poanta from Mehruwala.

The dead have been identified as Anil Kumar from Puruwala and Dhanveer from Dada in Poanta tehsil of the district, the sources said.

The seriously injured people have been admitted to the Nahan Regional Hospital, while the remaining were being treated at the Poanta Civil Hospital.

The sources said a case has been registered against the bus driver who was absconding and added that the case has been registered against him under Sections 279, 337 and 304B of the IPC.

The district administration has announced an immediate relief of Rs 5,000 each to the dead and Rs 1,000 each to the injured, the sources said.

The administration has also decided to treat the injured at its own expenses besides extending other facilities, the sources added.
