Two bank employees sentenced

Patna, Apr 21 (UNI) The special CBI Judge of Patna today awarded two year of rigorous imprisonment to four persons, including two bank employees, in a case of cheating, forgery and corruption.

Designated judge R S Rai also slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 each against all the convicts.

The convicts were Uday Shankar Singh, Ramesh Prasad Karn, Md Saluddin and Bacchu Bihari Singh.

According to the charges, all the convicts by committing forgery and abusing their official position, sanctioned Bank loans worth over Rs 40,000 to fake persons at Belsund branch of the State Bank of India in Sitamarhi District during 1980-85.

Convict Uday Shankar Singh was posted as agricultural assistant and Ramesh Prasad Karn as clerk cum cashier. Bacchu Bihari Singh was village level worker of Belsund block and Md Saludddin was Mukhiya of Kurtha Panchayat.

Two other accused in the case suppliers Brij Kishore Singh and Surendra Thakur were acquitted by the court.
