Tripartite over HM fails
Kolkata, Apr 21(UNI) The tripartite meeting over the deadlock in Hindustan Motors fell flat today dashing the hope for reopening of the Uttarpara factory as the management and unions refused to budge from their respective stand.
While the management reiterated that the workers must withdraw the strike first before any negotiation, the striking unions stuck to their demand that suspension order on ten of the workers should be revoked, Labour Commissioner Subesh Das said.
The Hindustan Motors management declared suspension of work in the Uttarpara plant last week following an indefinite strike by a section of workers demanding increase in dearness allowances and pay revision, among other things.
