Student injured in firing in engineering college

Hyderabad, Apr 21 (UNI) In another incident of campus violence, a third year Engineering graduate of Deccan Engineering college was seriously injured when a student opened fire in the college premises today.

Police said Obaidullah, a second year engineering graduate, opened fire on Mukharam with his revolver after an argument between the two.

The second year student opened six rounds of fire on Mukharam who received bullet injuries in his stomach.

The injured student was rushed to a hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.

Police took Obaidullah into custody and interrogated him. They recovered the revolver from him.

Meanwhile, the Deccan College of Engineering and Technology said the firing incident was not related to any ragging but resulted from a personal rivalry between the two students.

According to a press release here, College Principal Md Abdul Aleem Siddiqui condemend the unprecedented incident. The rivalry came to the adverse notice of the college management recently.

The accused was recently suspended from the college for allegedly masterminding student clashes in the college for the last one year.
