Sonal Mansingh conferred upon Honorary Doctorate

Dehra Dun, Apr 21 (UNI) Celebrated Odissi danseuse Sonal Mansingh was conferred upon a honorary doctorate by Govind ] Ballabh Pant Agriculture and Technology University here today.

She received the honour along with four others.

Uttarakhand Governor and University Chancellor Sudarshan Agarwal handed the doctorates to them during the 23rd convocation of the university.

Others who received honorary doctorates included Indian Enterprises Chief Executive Officer Sunil Bharati, Mr. Michael John Wilson, the former Chairman of Renewable Natural Resources, Department for International Development, Britain, and Dr Amrita Patel and Mr Anandan for their contribution to dairy development and rural uplift.

Meanwhile Dr. Chandramohan Saxena, Senior Advisor, International Centre for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas was conferred upon a honorary doctorate of science.

In all, 1693 students were awarded degrees and 69 received medals in the convocation attended by Chief Minister B C Khanduri, former Chief Justice of India M N Venkatachellaiah, Speaker of the state assembly Harbans Kapoor, Agriculture Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and MP Bacchi Singh Rawat.

UNI
