RSS calls 'hartal' following killing of worker

Alappuzha, Apr 21 (UNI) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today called a flash strike here after the body of its 'karyavakah' Chandran was found with multiple injuries at Charamood. Tension prevailed in the area after the body was found in the morning.

Shops were closed and vehicles went off the roads following the strike, which will be till 1800 hrs today.

Senior police officers, including Superintendent of Police E Jayaraj rushed to the area.

Police said that there were clashes between the RSS and CPM activists in the area some three months ago. The latest incident might be a fallout of the earlier clashes, it was suspected.

Chandran (40) did not belong to the area and had been posted as a 'karyavahak' some time back.
